Auction Instructions
HOW TO BID
The easiest answer is to call 1-866-621-2467 and our volunteers will help you bid!
The live broadcast of the 2012 Signature Auction will take place on April 21st and 22nd from 7-10 p.m. For more detailed information read below.
ON AIR BIDDING PROCEDURES
Bidding on an item will start when the gallery host introduces the piece in Gallery A. The host will describe the piece by item number, on-air title, medium, artist or donor, and size. If an item received a pre-bid, then the pre-bid will become the opening active bid. The gallery host will give information and talk about the piece in this gallery. If you see something you wish to bid on, call 1-866-621-2467. One of our volunteer operators will answer your call.
To make a bid, give your Bid Number, your name and a phone number where you may be reached, the item number, and the amount of your bid.
Bidding starts at $100 and bids will be made in $5 increments until the bidding price reaches $250 at which time the bidding increments will increase to $10, when bidding price reaches $1000 bidding increments will increase to $50. Once you place your bid, the volunteer operator will verify the bid information. Because of limited phone lines you will not be able to stay on the line unless you call in the last minute of available selling time. If at any point you wish to increase your bid, please call again and place another bid. At the close of selling time, the host will alert the audience as to how much time is left to call in a bid. A clock on the screen will indicate the end of the selling time. You must be on the phone with one of our volunteers at this time to be eligible to continue bidding against other bidders. Bidders on the phone line at the end of the selling time will continue to bid against each other until the highest bidder remains. After the selling time is up on Gallery A, the host of Gallery B will start selling the item in that Gallery in the same manner as described for Gallery A.

BID NUMBERS
Bid numbers are used to facilitate bidding. Bid numbers may be requested by calling the station at 800-337-4788.
If you had a bid number in the previous auction, your number will be the same. If you want to bid on an item during the auction and don’t have a bid number, the volunteer will assign a number to you while you are on the phone. The phone number to call during the auction is 866-621-2467.
PROXY BIDS
Proxy bids for a piece of art can be made by emailing to Shelley Oden: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or calling 1-785-483-6990 ext. 102.
Proxy bids may be made up to 4:00 p.m. on the day the item is to be sold. All bids start at $100. Bid at least $100 on fir proxy bids. The bids should be the miximum you wish to bid. For example: if you enter a proxy bid of $150.00 your bid will start at $100 and will increase by $5 as long as their is bidding. When the bid reaches $250.00 the bids will increase by $10 and at $1000 the bids will increase by $50 per bid. The highest proxy bids will become the opening bid for that item when it is presented on-air.
Proxy bids WILL NOT receive a call from one of our volunteers during the on-air bidding. You will be called by a volunteer to confirm if you are the winning bidder.
An advance bid is a commitment, on the part of the bidder, to purchase the item should that become the high bid. In the case of duplicate highest proxy bids, the earliest proxy bid received will be the one accepted. If you have placed a proxy bid do not call during the live auction and bid again. A station representative is already bidding for you and if you call in again you might end up bidding against yourself.
PAYMENT AND PICKUP METHODS
If you are the high bidder, a volunteer will call you back to confirm your bid and the item. Please indicate at that time your choice of pick-up options described below.

This option will include a fee for delivery and insurance costs if necessary. The purchase price and any additional fees must be paid before the item will be released for delivery. If your purchase is very delicate and easily damaged, SHPTV reserves the right to recommend that you pick up the item. The station regrets that due to the number of items and the expense, it is unable to offer complimentary deliveries. All auction purchases must be paid for and picked up by May 31, 2011. Any items not paid for and delivered by this date will be sold to the next highest bidder.
